Through Springer Nature's partnership with Research4Life, eligible researchers in low- and middle-income countries have access to premium features at no cost or at a low fee. This resource supports best practices in open science and open access, enabling researchers to publish protocols with DOIs, collaborate globally, and improve reproducibility.
Follow these steps to establish a premium account:
Sign up FIRST for a free protocols.io account at protocols.io. Ideally, if you have one, use an institutional email address.
From your free workspace on the platform, look for a prominent 'Upgrade' button, and click it.
Once a new box appears, scroll down to 'Select organization' and use the drop down to select 'Research4Life'.
Then click 'Verify your organization account'.
Select your country/area/territory from the drop down list and enter your institution, then click submit.
Make sure you complete Step 1 (creating a free account) before attempting the upgrade process. Using your institutional email address will help verify your eligibility faster.
