Background

The Library started off with a donation of 160 volumes of books from Dr. A Majeed Khan, the founder President and President Emeritus of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). Located at the administrative block of the university’s permanent campus at Bashundhara, the library is now housed in a floor area of 22360 square feet, with a collection of more than 30000 volumes of printed books, more than 2500000 e-books, study spaces with computers and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Mission

The library’s mission is to provide a range of services to inspire intellectual discovery and support learning, teaching, and research of the University with access to extensive materials and resources, available in both physical and digital spaces.

Resources

Following subscriptions to databases of full text electronic resources in 2002, students now have access to an extensive collection of digital and print resources - including 250000 e-books, 26000 journal titles, open access material, periodicals, 30000 printed volumes.

The library subscribes two major online electronic resources through the University Grants Commission Digital Library (UDL) and Bangladesh Academy of Sciences under the Library Consortium of Bangladesh (LiCoB), besides notable academic databases such as ProQuest-ABI Global Info, EBSCOhost eBooks Academic Collection, BDLex and Research4Life to support institutional research capacity.
